STUDIES ON HARVESTING, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE OF MANGO
Mango, native to India, is a popular fruit of the tropics and occupies a prominent place among the fruits of the world.
The Alphonso mango grown in Maharashtra, Gujerat, Mysore, Madras, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh is the choicest variety for fresh trade and processing.
In recent times it is assuming importance in export trade and therefore its preservation in fresh state for extended periods without loss of quality has become an urgent problem.
In the present paper an attempt has been made to work out standards for optimal maturity for harvest, transport and storage.
