THE INFLUENCE OF GIBBERELLIC ACID AND ETHREL ON CUT TULIPS

T.R. Pisulewski, D.M. Goszczynska, R.M. Rudnicki
The addition of gibberellic acid (GA3) to the preservative solution (HQC + S) significantly prolonged the vase life of 4 tested tulip cultivars. On the other hand GA3 caused a negative effect of the excessive elongation of tulip stems. The presence of Ethrel in HQC + S + GA3 solution completely inhibited the undesirable stem elongation, without any negative effect on flower longevity.
