TISSUE CULTURE AND MICROPROPAGATION OF LISIANTHUS RUSSELLIANUS HOOK

C. Damiano, B. Ruffoni, P. Curir, P. Esposito, F. Massabò
Germination "in vitro" of Lisianthus seeds allows to reduce the time to obtain the plants in condition to be transplanted in soil. Germination percentage was 100% on Brooks and Hough medium (1958) additioned with GA3 and active charcoal.

A protocol of micropropagation is suggested for seedlings or explants taken from adult plants. Multiplication rates ranged from 3.3 to 9.0, the rooting percentage from 84 to 100%.

Furthermore, a method to obtain successfully friable callus, cell culture and regenerations is suggested.
