6-BENZYLADENINE CONTROL OF THE INITIAL BULBLETS FORMATION OF WILD LILY LILIUM MARTAGON L.
Using explants of the bulbscale of Lilium martagon L. the effect of low concentrations of BAP and NAA on the bulblets formation was studied.
Bulblets were isolated from freshly dug up bulbs of field growing Lilium martagon L. wild form, in the early spring.
The sterile bulbscale explants were inoculated on MS (1962) medium supplemented with BAP and NAA. After 3 weeks of the culture the initial stage of bulblet formation was observed.
During the next 5 weeks fully form bulblets were recognized in the culture. For bulblet intiation the most effective concentration appeared to be 0.01 followed by 0.1 mg/l BAP.
Results indicate that in case of wild form of Lilium martagon L. the attension should be paid on cytokinins effect on early stage of bulblet initiation, besides of the importance of auxins in vegetative propagation of lily. The role of cytokinins in vegetative propagation of lily is disscused.
