IN VITRO SHOOT REGENERATION FROM DIFFERENT EXPLANTS OF HOSTA SIEBOLDIANA CV. GOLD STANDARD
Shoot regeneration from explants of mature plants /shoot tip, flower bud/ and of ex vitro plants /lower and upper parts of leaf petiole, whole and upper parts of leaf blade, whole and top parts of root/ were investigated.
The explants were cultured on a modified Murashige - Skoog medium containing different combinations of growth substances /KIN, 2iP, BAP with IAA, NAA, IBA/. Shoot tips, flower buds and lower parts of leaf petiole gave the highest shoot regeneration.
The ability of shoot regeneration from shoot tips and flower buds may be useful in initial phases of in vitro cultures. Shoot regeneration from lower parts of leaf petiole may be profitable for mutation breeding.
