THE PRACTICAL POSSIBILITIES OF THE USE OF BA IN VEGETATIVE PROPAGATION OF THE CRYPTANTHUS GENUS
Two species of Cryptanthus acaulis and Cryptanthus 'roseus' were treated with foliar spray applications at concentrations of 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 mg/l BA. Foliar applications for mother plants were made four times at two-week intervals.
It was found that applications of BA induced an increase in the number of new shoots on the mother plants.
The most effective concentration of BA was 800 mg/l.
Higher concentrations of BA inhibited shoot root formation, and this inhibition was equal to the increase in shoot production.
All BA-treated shoots formed roots.
