IN VITRO CULTURE OF THE OLIVE: AN OVERVIEW OF THE PRESENT SCIENTIFIC STATUS
The in vitro technique of the olive only marginally concerns the rapid propagation of difficult-to-propagate cultivars by cutting, but genetic improvement, production of disease-free plants and cryopreservation of valuable germplasm, are the main objectives.
Little work has been done in this area mainly due to the difficulty of cultivating it in vitro.
