ROOTING OF EIGHT OLIVE CULTIVARS UNDER MIST

‘Weteken’ cuttings rooted easily while ‘Dermlali’, ‘Khoderi’ and ‘Souri’ were hard-to-root. Rooting of ‘Picual’, ‘Mission’, ‘Frantoio’ and ‘Koroneiki’ was in-between. Summer was the best season for rooting, although bottom heat was used in winter. Compared with ‘Dermlali’, cuttings of ‘Weteken’ were of low content in phenols and rich in indoles and in calculated net units of promoters. In August, cuttings of both cultivars were of lower content in phenols and extractable rooting inhibitors than in February.
