OLIVE CULTIVARS INVESTIGATIONS. PRELIMINARY RESULTS
Since 1984 a large prospection of the olive groveland is being developed in order to identify the national olive genetic patrimony.
The results obtained up to now show, in the arid conditions of Sfax olive groveland, that beside the ‘Chemlali’ cultivar which grows wonderfully and gives the best production, three olive cultivars seem to present some interesting characteristics such as fruit size; oil yield figeability and acidic composition.
Further investigations will deal with their biological, productive and technological properties and qualities in comparison to ‘Chemlali’.
