EFFECTS OF A CHANGE IN PLOIDY LEVEL ON ANATOMICAL, CYTOLOGICAL, REPRODUCTIVE AND GROWTH PERFORMANCE CHANGES AND POLYAMINE CONTENS, IN MUTANTS OF GAMMA IRRADIATED OLIVE PLANTS

The authors discuss three olive somatic mutants, obtained by gamma irradiation from cvs. 'Leccino' and 'Frantoio'. The investigation considered anatomical, cytological and growth performance, as well as reproductive and biochemical aspects. The results showed the possibility of using some mutants as new cultivars for intensive orchards, or as rootstocks.
