IMAGE DIAGNOSIS OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS IN CULTURED TISSUES

The development of the photosynthetic apparatus in cultured calluses and plantlets of carrot (Daucus carota L. cv US-Harumakigosun) was studied by analyzing images of chlorophyll a fluorescence induction (CFI). The CFI curves differed at sites even within an individual leaf as a result of local development of the photosynthetic apparatus. The sensitivity and non-destructive nature of CFI imaging permits easy diagnosis of the development of the photosynthetic apparatus in cultured tissues.
