The application of synthetic seed technology to the transplant production are described. Gel beads sorter was newly developed and the synthetic seed production system was accomplished which comprised previously developed technology including self-breaking gel bead, sucrose sustained-release microcapsule, two encapsulation apparatuses and gel beads seeder. Using the synthetic seed of carrot somatic embryo produced and sown by these methods, about 52% of conversion frequency was obtained in the nonsterile greenhouse condition.
