DEVELOPMENT OF AUTOMATED SEEDLING PRODUCTION AND TRANSPLANTING SYSTEM USING ROBOTICS

O. Sakaue
A robotic system for automating vegetable seedling production and transplanting operations is developed and tested under a condition of low developments costs and realization of high performance. As for the seedling production system, a programmable controller-based robot and 8 types of its attachment devices are adopted to attain the automation of seeding, cultivating and controlling, transportation operations. As for the transplanting system, four types of transplating machines are developed to automate feed and insert operations of transplants which have ever been performed by operator's own hands.

According to a series of research and development, it is the conclusion that automated operation for seedling growing and transplanting using robotics technology will be possible to realize in the near future.
