The question arises as to whether the hybridizers of today are producing lilies that have equal staying power to the lilies of yesteryear, many of which were born well over half a century ago. Is there a parallel to those that have weathered the storms of time? How many of the beautiful colors in our Asiatic and Oriental lilies of today will still be on the stage fifty years from now? The majority of lily enthusiasts are searching for clones and strains that will persist and return year after year; perennial jewels so to speak - are hybridizers fulfilling that dream?
