DEVELOPMENT OF ENVIRONMENTALLY JUSTIFIED PRODUCTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS IN DUTCH HORTICULTURE

J.C.J. Ammerlan
From an environmental point of view, Glasshouse horticulture in the Netherlands has to face a restrictive governmental policy and a changing consumer attitude towards the quality of products in relation to the production process. In co-operation with other research institutes, research stations in the Netherlands initiated projects to support the glasshouse industry in their prospective adaptation process. In particular, the approach of the (applied) research projects directed on the development, testing and evaluating of production systems and methods are discussed.
