Attendance at the symposium far exceeded our expectations and indicates the increasing importance and attention mango is receiving world-wide. More than five hundred registered participants representing fifty-one countries attended.
The editor for this proceedings was Bruce Schaffer. He was assisted by an editorial review board who put forth a great deal of effort editing manuscripts. The board was composed of: C. W. Campbell (World Production), J.H. Crane (Horticultural Practices), T.L. Davenport (Strees Physiology, Growth and Development), R.E. Litz, R.J. Knight, Jr., and R.J. Schnell (Taxonomy, Breeding and Genetics), J.E. Peñia (Entomology), R.C. Ploetz (Plant Pathology), and R.G. McGuire and C.A. Campbell (Postharvest Physiology, Handling and Processing).
The organizing committee wishes to thank all of those numerous organizations and individual volunteers who helped make this symposium a success.
We also wish to thank the International Society for Horticultural Science for printing and distributing these proceedings.
A special thanks is extended to all of the participants.
Your interest, participation, and dedication to mango research and production helped make this a truly international symposium.
