PENTACYCLIC TRITERPENES FROM THE ROOTS OF POTENTILLA TORMENTILLA

The present study investigates the triterpenoidic constituents of the CHCl3, CHCl3-MeOH, and MeOH extracts of the dried rhizomes and roots of Potentilla tormentilla. In addition to lupeol and many ursane and oleanane derivatives, most of them found in the plant for the first time, three new compounds: 3beta, 19alpha-dihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic-28-beta-D-glucopyranosil ester, 2alpha, 3beta-19alpha-dihydroxy-olean-12-en-28-oic-28-beta-D-glucopyranosil ester, were isolated and characterized.
