RUBUS RESOURCES IN FUJIAN AND HUNAN PROVINCES
Investigations on wild Rubus in FJ and HN provinces were carried out in spring and autumn of 1989. It has been found that there are 46 spp., 6 vars. in the two provinces, of which 28 spp., 6 vars. belong to the endemic species of China, and 5 spp., 2 vars. have been verified to be new distribution records. Many outstanding species have been found to be good resources with fruits of high quality and some with better agronomic characters could be cultivated directly. Some proposed chimaeras, natural hybrids and other varieties have been reported. All of these are important in both theoretical research of taxonomy and applied horticultural development.
