GROWING GREENHOUSE STRAWBERRIES WITH AQUACULTURE EFFLUENT

A brief description is given of a hydroponic system for cropping of strawberries in greenhouse using trout culture wastewater. A high delivery rate (100 cc/min) of fish effluent did not limit plant growth or fruit yields. Reduction in effluent flow rates resulted in smaller plants and lower fruit yields. The study demonstrated that the strawberry plant can decrease the level of phosphate in fish effluent.
