COMPORTAMENTO DI OTTO CULTIVAR DI NOCCIOLO IN ISTRIA (CROAZIA)

In the ecological conditions of Istra the researches were carried out during 7-years on the growth and yield of hazelnut cultivars: Tonda Romana, Tonda Gentile delle Langhe, Barcelona, Nocchione, Negret, Camponica, Istarski Okruglasti (Tonda Istriana) and Istarski Duguljasti (Lunga Istriana).

The climatic conditions are in general favourable for hazelnut culture. The soil is Terra Rossa of loamy texture and relatively good physical and chemical properties.

According to vegetative growth in the conditions of Istra the cultivars can be divided:

• very vigorous: Barcelona, Nocchione, Negret and Tonda Romana,
• medium vigorous: Camponica, Istarski Okruglasti and Tonda Gentile delle Langhe,
• slightly vigerous: Istarski Duguljasti

Order of cultivars according yields in the first 7 years are: Nocchione, Istarski Duguljasti, Camponica, Negret, Barcelona, Tonda Romana, Istarski Okruglasti and Tonda Gentile delle Langhe.

The biggest randman of kernel are determinated for cultivars: Barcelona and Negret (about 46%), then Istarski Okruglasti (Tonda Romana) and Camponica (about 44%), and Nocchione and Istarski Duguljasti (about 42%).

The sensitivity of examinated cultivar to aridity are: Istarski Duguljasti, Nocchione, Camponica, Tonda Gentile delle Langhe, Istarski Okruglasti, Negret, Barcelona and Tonda Romana.

Per apportare una migliore conoscenza delle cultivar più importanti in Europa in comparazione con le cultivar croate, abbiamo piantato in Istria un frutteto sperimentale con le seguenti cultivar: Tonda Romana, Tonda Gentile delle Langhe, Barcelona, Nocchione, Negret, Camponica, Istarski okruglasti (Tonda Istriana), Istarski duguljasti (Lunga Istriana).
