The report deals with different methods of hazelnut propagation. Two hazelnut cultivars: “Istrska debeloplodna leska” and “Tonda gentile delle Langhe” and three methods of propagation were included into the trial. Softwood cuttings were collected on 15 July. After 10 weeks in the rooting media root growth was measured. “Istrska debeloplodna leska” treated with IBA, 1000 ppm got the best results: there were 80 % of rooted cuttings in comparision with untreated controls where only 35 % of cuttings developed roots. Girdling on current season's stems in the end of May as the second method got in average 37,5 % of very good rooted plants, 40 % of plants with good root system and 22,5 % of unrooted plants. Girdling on one-year-old wooden stems in February got in average 57 % of well rooted plants.
