EFFECTS OF VARIOUS GROWING MEDIA ON EGGPLANT AND PEPPER SEEDLING QUALITY
This study was conducted to compare the following five media; peat, peat-perlite mixtures at 3:1, 1:1 and 1:3 ratios and 4:2:1 sheep manure-soil-sand (standard compost) in eggplant and pepper seedling production.
Separate trials were performed with four replicates for each species.
Growing media had significant effects on eggplant seedling growth; peat and peat-perlite mixtures gave better results than standard compost. Although the effects of growing media on pepper seedling growth were not significant in respect to all properties, better results were obtained with peat and peat-perlite mixtures as compared to the standard compost.
