A SIMPLE METHOD TO ESTIMATE THE IRRIGATION WATER REQUIREMENT OF GREENHOUSE GROWN TOMATO

Irrigation in greenhouses has many inherent difficulties among other problems regarding greenhouse practices which have shown significant advance and development in Turkey in recent years. In this study, a simple method which can be adapted and used by growers was developed and tested to predict the irrigation water requirement of greenhouse grown crops, particularly tomato. The method was simply based on a linear relationship between daily solar radiation and water evaporation from small beakers placed at various sites in the green house and allows for changes in plant height.
