EVOLUTION OF VARIETY BEHAVIOUR IN EMILIA-ROMAGNA

M. Dadomo, G. Gandolfi, A. Robotti
Variety comparison is made since 1984 in an important area for processing tomato in northern Italy. Complete data are currently published in periodical reviews, in which agronomical, productive and qualitative aspects are examined.

Exploiting stability parameters (Eberhart and Russell, 1966), additional data on yield in relation with the environment can be obtained. This paper shows the behaviour of a few varieties, some presenting a positive interaction and others a negative one with the environment.

The different stability is also pointed out, as well as the behaviour of the variety yield at lower and higher levels of environmental fertility.

This method allows for choosing the fittest varieties for different situations of fertility.
