EEC RESEARCH PROGRAM - ACTION B - AUTOMATIZED EVALUATION OF THE QUALITY OF TOMATOES FOR PROCESSING DELIVERED TO PLANTS
The first results are shown of a three-year experiment carried out to define some parameters together with their objective measurement systems in order to define the quality of the raw material delivered to tomato processing plants.
The aspects studied were: repeatability of sampling: depth of the sampling, correlation between automatic and subjective data: effect of the distance between field and factory.
A formula is also proposed to establish a criterion for tomato quality rating to be used as a base for payment.
