M. Cerne, M. Resnik
Fruit characteristics of six hybrids and six open pollinated tomato cultivars were studied in two year field trial and their chemical composition was analyzed. Late and low yielding cv. Jasenicki jabucar, Gruzanski jabucar and Saint Pierre with large fruits containing high quantities of soluble solids and vitamin C and low quantities of total acids were suitable for processing in concentrate. Cv. Balkan. F1 and Adrija F1 which had early and high yield, smaller to medium size fruits with lower soluble solids and high content of total acids were suitable for processing in juice. There was no difference in the content of N, P, K ashes and pH between cultivars.
