The aim of these experiments was to test the possibilities of applying straw and milling waste instead of horse manure as a heating layer and the use of lowmoor peat mixed with sphagnum peat or pine bark compost, or pine bark compost alone as a substrate for greenhouse grown parthenocarpic gherkins cv.
