CYTOSPORA CANKER OF APRICOTS IN MALATYA AND ELAZIG PROVINCES

I. KURAL, G. ERDILLER
The objective of this study was to determine Cytospora Canker incidence on apricots (Prunus armeniaca L.) in Malatya and Elazig provinces. A survey was conducted in 1992, and 6 327 apricot trees were examined in 125 plantations. Survey results indicated that 90% of the plantations had more or less infected trees, and 36% of the examined trees had disease symptoms. The most common symptom was fruiting wood and twig dieback, trunk and scaffold cankers were observed less frequently. Also sudden death of apricot trees caused by Cytospora was seen rarely.
