REGISTRATION OF PEA (PISUM SATIVUM L.) CULTIVARS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM: DOCUMENTATION, CLASSIFICATION AND DESCRIPTION
The methods used to register new cultivars of Pea and Field Pea (Pisum sativum L.) for addition to the UK National List and/or for an award of UK Plant Breeders' Rights, are outlined.
Documentation of test standards and characters used, are described.
Emphasis is given to accurate character definition, and, where possible, the use of genetic information to classify and discriminate cultivars.
Cultivars are classified into major and minor groups to reduce test work, and cultivar descriptions are compiled on registration.
