CONCLUDING REMARKS AND SUMMARY OF SYMPOSIUM

A.A. De Hertogh
Clearly, this "First International Symposium on the Genus Lilium" was a unqualified success. This was obvious not only from the wide range of scientific areas covered by the scientists presenting the various lectures and posters but also by the hospitality of our Korean Hosts. Dr. Jong Suk Lee, Dr. Beyoung Hwa Kwack, Dr. Mark Roh, and Dr. Joo Kyun Choi and their associates are to be commended for their efforts in organizing and conducting an excellent symposium. All the non-Korean attendees express our deepest gratitude to each of them for a job well done.

All speakers and poster presenters are to be congratulated for their excellent presentations. It was obvious that much preparation went into them and this resulted in a wide variety of subject matter being covered during the symposium. All articles are in this volume of Acta Horticulturae.

Lastly, one of the primary benefits of attending a symposium is the establishment of friendships and professional relationships. This was readily accomplished during this meeting. These relationships will bear fruit in the future, since communications are vital to all scientists.
