ADEM™ A PC-BASED MULTIPLE DISEASE WARNING SYSTEM FOR USE IN THE CULTIVATION OF APPLES

X.-M. Xu, D.J. Butt
A new PC-based apple disease warning system called Adem™ was developed at Horticulture Research International, East Malling. Adem™ incorporates models for apple scab (Venturia inaequalis), powdery mildew (Podosphaera leucotricha), and Nectria canker and fruit rot. More than one model can be run simultaneously. Weather data are recorded using an automatic data logger. Adem™ gives site- (cultivar/orchard) specific forecasts in disease incidence or intensity using information on factors such as weather condition, cultivar susceptibility and levels of inoculum. Adem™ is planned to be commercially released in spring 1996.
