NUTRIENT CONTENTS OF DIFFERENT PISTACHIO VARIETIES BUDDED ON DIFFERENT SPECIES OF ROOTSTOCKS UNDER GAZIANTEP ECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS

A.M. Bilgen, N. Kaska
This work was carried out in the nurseries of Pistachio Research Institute, Gaziantep and the Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Çukurova. The purpose of the work was to find out the effects of three rootstock (Pistacia vera L., Pistacia khinjuk Stocks and Pistacia atlantica Desf.) on the mineral nutrient uptake of five varieties (Kirmizi, Uzun, Halebi, Siirt and Ohadi) of pistachio nut grown in Gaziantep.

It was found that the mineral nutrient absorption capacity of each rootstock is rather different from the others. The varieties behave in the same manner with the rootstocks on which they were budded.

The levels of K, Mg, Mn in the leaves of P.atlantica were found higher than the other two rootstocks. No significant differences were found between the P, Ca, Fe, Cu contents of the leaves of the three rootstocks.
