We measured the effectiveness of irradiated pollen (500 Gy and above) for releasing of the ovule enlargement, which is the first manifestation of a parthenogenetic development of embryo. The number of parthenogenetic achenes widely depends on several factors, and specially: the season, the intrinsic female fertility, the quality and quantity of pollen from R. hybrida. Most of these factors affect also in the same way the production of fertilized achenes after pollination by untreated pollen.
