INVESTIGATION AND BREEDING OF CHRYSANTHEMUM INDICUM IN GERMANY AND TENERIFE

C. Jordan
A short description of the situation of chrysanthemum year-round cultivation in relation to natural climate and photo-periodic conditions is given. The Bundesforchungsanstalt für gartenbauliche Pflanzenzüchtung i.e. Federal Research Institute for Horticultural Plantbreeding in Ahrensburg is working on testing and breeding varieties, specially "light-efficient"types, for winter production in northern Europe. Part of this work is being executed in El Sauzal/Tenerife on the Canary Islands.
