CHARACTERIZATION STUDIES ON SOME HAZELNUT CULTIVARS AND TYPES

This study has been carried out on 822 individual composed of variety or type or offspring which were planted in Hazelnut Resarch Institute after selecting from hazelnut plantations of Turkey.The aim of the study was to describe the population as well as to determine the characters of individuals for three years which could be used by breeders and researchers.

In working period, the material have been examined and evaluated on 79 characters and the data obtained from each individual was edited in the coded list.

The hazelnut population of Turkey which was assumed as it is represented by the material was described using the class value that had the highest number of individual for each character.

The code list was also to be used as a key for users who, is going to look forcertain characters which possessed of determined value.
