ESTABLISHING OF THE OFFSPRING TRANSMISSION CAPACITY OF SOME CHARACTERS FOR HAZELNUT

I. Botu, E. Turcu, M. Botu
During the hazelnut breeding programs from Research Station Vâlcea, there were done determinations concerning the way of transmission for some characters, from hazelnut hybrids.

The way of transmission is specific for the genitors who are taking part in the hybridization ( specially the maternal genitor ).

The high variation coefficients for the fruit weight, the mean value for the kernel percentage and the fruit size are indicating the existence of high possibilities for improving these characters, comparative with the situation in which the variation coefficients have smaller values.

Merweille de Bollwiler and Furfulak genitors are transmitting to the offspring the characters for large fruits and heavier weight, but only a small percentage of hybrids exceed the value of these genitors for both characters.

The offspring obtained from Merweille de Bollwiler, Cosford and Furfulak have a high percentage of kernel ( more then 47% ). Cosford and Furfulak genitors are transmitting thin exocarp for the offspring.

Low phenotypic correlation and determination coefficients which exist between some pairs of characters are showing the impossibility of improving in the same time these fruit characters.
