DIFFERENTIATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF 500 GRAPEVINE (VitisI L.) CULTIVARS USING NOTATIONS AND MEASURED LEAF PARAMETERS

T. Weihl, E. Dettweiler
525 cultivars were described by 151 morphological descriptors. Based on these data an identification procedure consisting of four steps was developed. Step one is working like a dichotomous key using 11 descriptors of the shoot tip, leaf and the berry. Step 2 to 4 use exclusively measured and calculated leaf characteristics. The cultivar specific variation was covered through multisites data recording: 80 % of the cultivars were described at different sites and 20 % of the cultivars were described at least twice at the same geographical site. Discriminant analysis was applied for statistical data treatment. The identification height is at about 90-100 %.
