QUALITY AND AROMA OF GOLDEN DELICIOUS APPLES AS INFLUENCED BY THE HARVEST DATE AND THE STORAGE PERIOD
Controlled-atmosphere (CA) storage with low or ultra-low (ULO) oxygen concentration has been widely adopted to extend apple storage period by reducing the loss of firmness, acidity and sugars.
CA storage can exert a suppressive effect on volatile emission (Streif et al., 1988; López et al., 1998). In the present work, the influence of different picking time on the quality and aroma of apples, at harvest and under CA conditions was evaluated.
