DETERMINATION OF THE VARIABLES TO USE IN THE PREDICTION OF THE PINEAPPLE PRODUCTION TO CULTIVATE CAYENA LISA

H. Donis García, R. Moya Consuegra
A series of experiments were carried out on the cultivar pine Cayena Lisa located in the pineapple enterprise of Ciego de Avila between 1999-2001.
The final objective was to identify the part of the plant which can be utilized for the establishment of prediction methods for the final weight of fruits and possible loss of production. Studies on the vegetative and reproductive components were also carried out.
The diameter and height of the inflorescence and peduncle are fundamental elements of the plant better related to the final weight of fruits and can be used in the estimation method in the same way they should be used as variables in the regression method.
The final weight of fruits, together with the population, allows for a precise prediction in the production of an area using a simple equation, with results which are economically and operatively more feasible.
