SOUR CHERRY BREEDING PROGRAM AT MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY
For the past 18 years, the Michigan State University sour cherry breeding program has strived to improve the quality of the pie-type cherry and find alternative product uses.
Studies are in progress to understand the genetic factors that govern productivity, in particular, fruit set and pistil freeze susceptibility.
