A MORE HOLISTIC VIEW ON THE HORMONAL INTERACTIONS AMONG DIFFERENT ORGANS IN A FRUIT TREE

F. Bangerth
Fruit trees are complex perennial structures that differ in many respects from annual/biennial plants. Consequently, a number of their endogenous regulatory systems differ significantly from those observed in annual/biennial "model plants" often described in text books. An attempt was made to outline some of these differences and to explain why "correlative hormonal signals" between different organs of a fruit tree are so much more important than in annual plants, in particular when trying to manipulate growth and the generative potential of the tree.
