DIVERSITY OF CRYPHONECTRIA PARASITICA (MURR.) BARR VEGETATIVE COMPATIBILITY (VC) TYPES IN SLOVAKIA
An investigation was carried out to determine the vc types of Cryphonectria parasitica in Slovakia since its first occurrence in 1976 up to date.
European chestnut is found in 210 localities in Slovakia.
Genetic diversity of the fungus Cryphonectria parasitica was determined in 21 localities.
A total of 955 isolates were tested.
Each isolate was assigned to a single vc type.
Ten vc types were identified.
Pairing with the European vc type testers revealed that the most common types in Slovakia are the EU-12 and EU-13 (46.60% and 33.93% of the isolates, respectively). Only one vc type was detected in seven localities.
