The aim of the trial was to evaluate floral induction and early production of cv. Madrigal F1 artichoke, grown from seed, using gibberellic acid. The following treatments were carried out: T-0.- Untreated control, T-1.- Three applications of 60 ppm of GA3: 40, 55 and 70 days after planting, T-2.- Four applications of 60 ppm of GA3: 40, 50, 60 and 70 days after planting, T-3.- Three applications of 60 ppm of GA3: 30, 45 and 60 days after planting. Planting was carried out on July 14th 2005. Spacing of plants within the row was 0.8 m with 1.8 m between rows. Floral differentiation was measured calculating the length/width ratio of the floral stem both the day before each treatment and ninety days after planting. Early production is considered to be that up to December 15th 2005. Up until October 17th 2005 it has been proven that the best induction was obtained using T-2 treatment. The T-3 treatment obtained a faster induction than T-2, but after the last treatment, 60 days after planting, plant evolution was not towards generative development, but to vegetative development.
