Fruit derived from hybridization of ‘Jiefangzhong’ loquat with pollens from ‘Changhong No.3’, ‘Xiangtian’, ‘Zaozhong No.6’, ‘Taicheng No.4’, ‘Moriowase’, ‘Baili’, ‘Golden Nugget’ and ‘Jiefanzhong’ were analyzed to study the effect of pollen parent on fruit quality. Fruit weight was increased by out-crossing. The increase was significant when ‘Moriowase’, ‘Baili’, ‘Goldes nugget’ or ‘Taicheng No.4’ was used as pollen source, but not significant when the pollen parent was ‘Changhong No.3’, ‘Xiangtian’ or ‘Zaozhong No.6’. No significant differences were observed on fruit cross diameter. The metaxenia phenomenon was not evident in pulp thickness, but out-crossing reduced flesh recovery and acidity. ‘Xiangtian’, ‘Taicheng No.4’, ‘Golden Nugget’ and ‘Zaozhong No.6’ pollen significantly increased content of soluble solids; ‘Changhong No.3’ pollen significantly reduced soluble solids, while ‘Moriowase’ and ‘Baili’ had no effect. ‘Xiangtian’, ‘Zaozhong No.6’, ‘Taicheng No. 4’, ‘Moriowase’ and ‘Golden Nugget’ pollen significantly increased total sugar content, while pollen from ‘Changhong No.3’ decreased total sugar content.
