DETECTION OF PEACH LATENT MOSAIC VIROID ON PEACH IN SERBIA
In a commercial orchard near Čačak several peach trees with deformed fruits and cracked sutures were observed.
Six trees with the symptoms suggesting possible presence of Peach latent mosaic viroid were tested by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.
Leaves, fruit skins, twigs and shoot barks were used for the extraction of total RNA. A specified DNA product of approximately 336 bp was obtained from all three cultivars, as well as in the inoculated indicators.
To our knowledge, this is the first report of PLMVd on peach in Serbia.
