EFFECT OF TYPE OF STRAWBERRY PLANTS, CULTIVAR AND TIMING OF THE HARVEST ON THE QUALITY OF STRAWBERRY FRUIT
The objective of the studies carried out in an unheated greenhouse was to determine the influence of three types of frigo plants (waiting-bed plants, potted plug plants and A+ plants) on vitamin C, dry matter and extract content in strawberry fruit of Honeoye and Elsanta cultivars grown for early and late harvest.
A significant difference in vitamin C content between tested cultivars was observed.
Plant type and growing term did not influence the content of vitamin C. Analysis of variance showed significant differences in dry matter content of fruit only between the cultivars.
The other factors did not affect dry matter content in fruit.
No significant effect of the variables or interaction between them on extract content in strawberry fruit was found.
