INFLUENCE OF HEAT SPREAD SYSTEM ON MALFORMATION OF 'ELSANTA' STRAWBERRIES IN SPRING
Malformation of Elsanta strawberries (Fragaria × ananassa) in a spring cultivation in a heated glass greenhouse is subject to different speculations. Insufficient pollination, reduced development of stamens, shortage of cold accumulation during winter and forced growth by heating. Two different systems of heat spread based on a network of respectively warm water pipes and warm air tubes were evaluated. A reduction of 8.3% of malformed fruits as well as an increase of production of 21% and an improved plant vigour was observed in the greenhouse heated with the warm air tubes.
