Stability in volatile synthesis is important for the selection of cultivars. In this work, environmentally caused variation was investigated over two years in a model population of Fragaria ×ananassa. The stability of the synthesis of key volatiles varies throughout the F1 seedling population between the two years. The aroma potential of the investigated Fragaria ×ananassa population was also compared to F1 clones of a cross-combination between Fragaria vesca and Fragaria mandshurica.
