A field experiment was conducted during seven years (2000-2007) in Gonabad region to evaluate the correlations between saffron flowering pattern and some effective climatological parameters. The flowering pattern was monitored under normal conditions and planting depth and summer irrigation treatments were designed by randomized complete blocks. Planting depth treatments were 10, 20, 30 centimeters from topsoil. Summer irrigation treatments were considered as control, one time irrigation in June, one time irrigation in July, two times irrigation in June and July. Our object in this research was to understand the relationship between the flower numbers and each climatological factor. The most important parameters correlated to flowering pattern were the soil temperature, air temperature, effective rainfall, total radiation and corm size. Planting depth of 30 cm had a negative effect on flowering and 20 cm treatment got the best result in flower numbers.
