COMPOSITION OF WILD APRICOT FORMS IN MOUNTAIN ZONE OF ZAILI AND JUNGHAR ALA-TAU

N.K. Volkova
Many-year expeditions (1961-1968) of the Kazakh Research Institute for Fruit and Grape Growing with the first-hand participation of the author-manager and executor of the biological detachment for studying wild fruit tree forests and for choosing forms, carried out investigations of the wild apricot forms diversity in the Zaili and Junghar Ala-Tau, with account of ecological conditions of inhabitation (vertical zones, expositions, and steepness of slopes). Winter-hardy and high-yielding forms with good quality of the fruit have been chosen (forms No.34.No.7, and other). Self-fertile form No.34 chosen in the spurs of the most northern area of the Tien-Shan is of the significant interest to the selection practice for growing the fruit varieties resistant to frost and winterwithering, as well as for the direct introduction as a veriety.
